Eden Prairie School Redistricting

For it or against it?

Eden Prairie Schools will be creating new school boundaries after the addition of a new elementary school next fall. According to EPS, the addition is part of the "Continued Excellence through Transformation" process. The community will get its chance to view the new boundary maps by the end of September or early October, according to EPS.

EPS says a final decision on the new boundaries is expected to come in November. Read Eden Prairie KSTP.com

The proposed changes, released last week, would move fifth- and sixth-graders from Oak Point Intermediate School into elementary schools that now house grades K-4. While redrawing attendance boundaries for the elementary schools, the district also would rebalance the schools' enrollments socioeconomically and by school capacity. "It fully satisfies the three goals," Superintendent Melissa Krull said. But it doesn't satisfy some of the parents of the up to 1,100 students who may have to attend a different school next fall.  Read Star Tribune article

Parents can call or e-mail district leaders, fill out a feedback form online at www.edenpr.org, or attend the four remaining input meetings on Oct. 18, 20 and 25.

Addressing the Board at a Meeting

There are two places for public comment during a Board meeting. The first is at the beginning of the agenda and is used for comments specific to items on the agenda for that Board meeting. The second is near the end of the agenda and is available for comment on topics not on the agenda for that Board meeting. So that the Board can manage meetings efficiently, it is helpful if anyone wishing to comment at a meeting calls or emails the Superintendent's Office in advance of the meeting: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Stakeholder Connections

school3Eden Prairie School Board members are providing an additional opportunity for two-way dialog with students, staff, parents, and community members. These "Stakeholder Connections" will be held before the second Board meeting of the month throughout the school year (with the exception of December, this Stakeholder Connection session will be held on December 7) from 5 - 5:45 p.m. at the Administrative Services Center, 8100 School Road. These opportunities are intended to further the Board's work around initiating and maintaining constructive two-way dialog with stakeholders.

It is requested that anyone wanting to speak to the full board please contact Jackie Simmons at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or (952) 975-7015. School Board member information is always available on the website for phone calls or email if you are unable to attend and wish to speak with the board.

Each person wishing to speak with the Board will be given five minutes to accommodate all stakeholders in attendance. The time frame is set to finish at 5:50 p.m. to allow enough time for the Board to be ready for the School Board meeting. Those who provide advance notification will be prioritized. These dialog opportunities are being piloted by the School Board Connections Committee for a recommendation to the full board for the fall.
