Winter Comfort Food

A Candian Favorite..Poutine

Poutine is a dish consisting of French fries topped with fresh cheese curds, covered with brown gravy or sauce and sometimes additional ingredients.

Poutine is a diner staple which originated in Quebec and can now be found across Canada. It is sold by national fast food chains (such as New York Fries, and Harvey's), in small "greasy spoon" type diners (commonly known as "cantines" or "casse-croûtes" in Quebec) and pubs, as well as by roadside chip wagons. International chains like McDonald's, A&W, KFC and Burger King also sell mass-produced poutine in Canada.

Our recipe

We made a cheddar, chicken gravy Poutine with bits of chicken, steak fries, chicken gravy and cheddar cheese.

We used 2% fat cheese and the fries were 3 grams of fat per serving. Chicken gravy was also very low in fat.

This recipe can be subsituted with bacon, sausage, seafood, and any combinations of cheeses.

You could broil the dish to give it a nice crustiness.

We used Market Pantry fries and gravy.

Easy, a warming dish and very satisfying.

Cilantro and Thyme Flatbread with Zucchini and Spinach

This recipe takes minutes and is better than pizza because of the herbed crust.

Saute: Slice lengthwise green onions, slice across zucchini, add spinach leaves

We used garlic oil to brush over the flatbread. Arrange vegetables on flatbread

Add cheeses of your choice and bake at around 350o till golden.
