SHETKASTONE

ShetkaStone uses recycled paper to make beautiful, sustainable tables, countertops, moldings, tiles, vanities, office furniture, and more. Our surfaces are easy on the earth and easy on the eye, the perfect choice for a variety of commercial, institutional, and residential applications.

ShetkaStone takes post-consumer and post-industrial paper out of the waste stream and makes it into beautiful, durable surfaces that will last for years. ShetkaStone's impact on the environment is minimal.

ShetkaStone started as a college term paper, or as a way to avoid writing one, anyway. Their founder, Stanley Shetka, was enrolled in an art history class at the University of Minnesota when he made the first ShetkaStone prototype-an art history book he'd pulped in a washing machine, molded into a brick, and handed in to his professor on the final day of class. "What's this?" the professor asked. "It's my term paper," Stan said, and explained that everything he'd read that semester was contained within the brick. It was a gutsy move, but it paid off: the professor gave him an A.

They've grown a lot since those days, as their product has evolved from an academic gamble to a high-end building product.  Shetkastone is passionate about finding creative, environmentally responsible ways to remove paper from the waste stream and recycle it into beautiful, useful products.
